Projects¶
The space runs on member projects. Pitch yours in the Project ideas 💡 topic; announce results everywhere. This page tracks the notable ones so new members know what exists, what's claimed, and what's up for adoption.
Built and running¶
- Telegram door lock — RFID/NFC tags + ESP32 UI, later a full bot-controlled electric strike (PC → CH340 USB-serial → relay → 12 V strike, fail-safe locked). The wiring and software handoff notes are in the group (message #1229, 12 Aug 2026) — read them before touching it. Outstanding hardware item: a flyback diode (1N4007) across the strike.
- Printer status bot — see Telegram & bots.
- Hackerspace network — fibre VLAN, own subnet,
*.flc.kitchenhosting. See Network & servers. - Workbench, wall shelves, desk lighting, LED window display — the physical space keeps levelling up.
- Wall demolition — yes, with a jackhammer; yes, approved first.
- Smaller wins: walking-pad remote repair, karaoke Spotify-ad muter, FLC keychains, fridge handles, shoe organisers, a fake-cat-flap prank held in reserve for Petya.
In progress / claimed¶
- SENTINEL/86 — experimental AI facility monitor (screen/camera/mic + LLM). Vibe-coded work in progress; may or may not ever be finished.
- Jellyfin media server — huge documentary library for the complex (David).
- Zigbee / ESP32 space automation — heating the space before people arrive, "turn all lights off" button (Maxime + Coco). The AC can likely be controlled via IR from the shelf PC.
- Mario Kart tournament rig — emulator + USB controllers (Coco, blocked on controllers).
- Interactive game-show buzzer system — to demo the space to FLC tenants (Maxime, idea stage).
On hold¶
- Shared kitchen rebuild — extensively researched (used kitchens ~€400–450, layouts, budget ~€500–600); paused because Petya prefers no big changes while the coworking handover is uncertain, and the Dutch school uses the space some weeks. The research is in the group when it revives.
- Coworking room makeover — light-wood theme, kitchen-worktop desks, divider shelves, wall panels; a ~€360 concept exists. Same blocker.
- Ice cream micro-factory 🍦 — an AI-administered artisan gelato operation in the 6 m² former WC next door. Full business plan, HACCP design, and legal analysis exist (messages #1243–#1244, 13 Aug 2026 — a genuinely good read). Paused on Petya's warning about food inspectors. The dream lives.
Up for adoption¶
- Hydroponics — air pump, rockwool, net pots and cherry-tomato seeds were bought; needs someone to carry it on.
- Repair the dead RTX 3090 — a broken 24 GB GPU awaits a hero (and there are repair shops in Plovdiv that can help or take over).
- Listing the space on the hackerspace wikis (wiki.hackerspaces.org, hackaday.io) — repeatedly intended, never done.
- iceCreamBot — a robot arm + freezer that hands you ice cream. Requested formally. Twice.
