Getting started

How to join

There is no formal membership process, application form, or fee (as of August 2026). In practice:

  1. Get added to the Telegram group. Any existing member can invite you or share the group link. The group is the space — if you're in it, you're in.
  2. Introduce yourself in the general chat topic and say what you'd like to make or learn.
  3. Come by. Someone will show you around.

FLC Kitchen is primarily for residents/tenants of the FLC complex, but that's convention rather than a hard rule. Non-members are welcome as guests.

Finding the place

The space is at the Four Leaf Clover complex (18 St. Yavor Str., Bansko — GPS 41.840395, 23.477633) — the former kitchen, right next to the coworking.

Getting in the door

  1. Through the coworking — there's an internal door between the coworking space and the hackerspace. The easiest route whenever the coworking is open.
  2. Telegram bot — send /open@OpenTheDoorOfLatelierBot in the group (use the 🤖 Bots topic). It releases the electric strike on the front door for a few seconds — push to enter — and replies with who opened it and when. Built and run by Maxime.
  3. Physical key — keys exist in principle, but at the time of writing it's not clear any member actually holds one. Ask in the group.

Door controller electronics

Inside the door controller: a USB-serial adapter driving a relay that switches the 12 V strike.

Parcels & deliveries

Order deliveries to the complex addressed to "MR HACKERSPACE" — reception (Irena) receives them. Heads-up: couriers sometimes need a PIN from the recipient, so watch your phone on delivery day, and post in the group when you've picked a parcel up.

The back door

The back door is a bit broken and doesn't close well on its own. If you use it, make sure it's actually shut behind you.

Opening hours

There are none — members come and go at all hours. Just leave the space as you'd want to find it.

Money

There are no membership fees. Costs are covered informally — see Resources & money for how buying, the shared expense card, and donations work. If you print a lot, chip in for filament.

Learning the tools

Ask for a walkthrough:

  • FDM 3D printer — Maxime, Coco, or Loren can teach you.
  • Resin (SLA) printer — David gives an intro (takes about 2 hours).
  • Electronics / soldering — David; start with the EEVblog soldering tutorial.
  • Servers / self-hosting — David set up the infrastructure and can show you how to host things on it.

Communication style

Mostly English, occasional French. Post progress photos. Finished projects get announced in the group. Unfinished ones get quietly absorbed into the shelves.
